Education Officer-Special Needs Address

It is certainly an honour to be the first EO for special Education in Antigua and Barbuda. With no predecessor, there was no guide for developing this programme. With sheer passion, willpower, interest and burning desire to see our special students catered to within our education system, I was and remain excited to make this programme a journey. One which is shared by our special students, parents, teachers, colleagues, our society and partners regionally and internationally. There are many challenges, but partners such as Perkins International, Mill Reef Fund, and the Lasell College has helped the Ministry of Education through the Special Needs Unit, to set some firm foundations upon which to find special students, train teachers and parents and train a Special Education Needs Assessment Team. With support of the Minister of Education and Director of Education, we are able to set a programme, al-be-it, with occasional changes.
