GENESIS :
That contrarian viewpoint triggered the genesis of HOTEL MAGIC LLC and The Magical Mystery Show ! When COVID hit , the first thought Jonathan had was where are the opportunities for his clients during COVID ? They ranged from software companies to celebrities . Jonathan was able to find opportunities in negative headlines such as “ Hotels Have No Business ,” “ No Tourism ,” and turn those around to “ how can he get people into those hotels ?” After a lot of thought he was hit with an epiphany . He has always wanted to do a high-end style magic show in a Victorian style setting , much like the Magic Castle but in hotels , and multiple hotels , and on a large , international scale . COVID presented an opportunity ! Hotels need attractions and they HAVE ROOM SPACE NOW !
Jonathan ’ s concept is to hire the best magicians in the world who have a 70 minute show ( or two 40 minute acts ) that would fit the setting of a 60 seat theatre . The weakness of the hotel is the strength of this product . Hotels are running at 55 % occupancy across the world and in particular Hawaii which relies on hotels for a lot of their business . But a half full hotel is just fine for seating 60 people twice a night . Jonathan has created a show which gives the hotels a good part of the ticket revenue and by creating the Dinner / Show concept so they can now bring in millions of dollars annually at each property during a time when they are losing dollars but have space . That is what ’ s called a win-win !
To put this all together you need an incredible team and major finance . Jonathan set out two years ago to set up the staff , the funding , and everything necessary to create what his plan had become .
The concept is not to highlight the magician as in other hotels , but to create something that wasn ’ t magician dependent . What this means for magicians is a roster where entertainers can rotate from hotels and different lengths of residencies depending on their schedule . Magicians get qualified by HO- TEL MAGIC LLC and they are then able to select residencies of a month , two months , four or six months . HOTEL MAGIC LLC has created what they term the “ Cirque du Soleil ” of Parlour Magic . You can see Cirque anywhere but not necessarily know who the performers are at any of the venues . HOTEL MAGIC LLC has created the same thing in that it doesn ’ t matter who the magician is , as long as that magician can do the high level quality of a show required by HOTEL MAGIC LLC .
This is a recipe for success as long as you can raise a few million dollars in advance , which is the hard part . Fortunately Jonathan has been in show business a very long time and was able to get silent partners who infused his team with enough capital
to do this . He said during interviews that the company knows it will spend millions of dollars right out the gate . Doing this right takes a huge team and the specialties on management , fiancee even decor and security , all need to be dialed in before the first show is even pitched . But this is nothing new to producer in JT ’ s league . However getting the funding needed was expected to an issue , especially during COVID . Within a week of the initial private offering , however , JT had raised the first round and sold it out completely . The dream became a reality . The numbers , says Jonathan , are simply too good to not invest in this . It seems he found a number of investors who sharpened their pencils and quickly agreed .
But getting qualified is not easy . First a magician needs to have a serious history of performing at deluxe venues . They need years of experience . Cruise ship history is a plus and people certified to work at the Magic Castle in Hollywood and the Magic Circle in London , get first rights to work HOTEL MAGIC LLC venues . Magicians need video of their acts and the video needs to show both magical expertise and entertainment at a world class level .
