Chair's Letter
Welcome
Dear Friends,
Our theme is friendship in this issue, on the occasion of the NCT Diamond Jubilee Celebrations this year, a time to celebrate all the charity has achieved over the last 60 years and the friends we have made as a consequence.
There is a fascinating article on page 22 which describes how this great charity and national treasure came about. It was set up by Prunella Briance in 1956, seeking to inform and empower women about labour and birth, based on the teachings of the physician Grantly Dick-Read. As part of our Jubilee celebrations, the Wellcome Trust has catalogued our national archive with more than 270 boxes of parenting history over the past 60 years. i have sent our latest Branch documents to be added to the Archive in Brighton too.
As you can see from the photo, I was lucky enough to meet our NCT CEO, Nick Wilkie at one of his countrywide ‘Common Purpose’ Workshops. I feel confident that our favourite charity is in very good hands as we begin our next decade.
Thank you to our energetic Branch volunteers and members who continue to power this wonderful Branch,
Hope to meet you soon!
