Support for Clapham mums with postnatal depression

The Cedar House Support Group is a registered charity based in Guildford, which helps support mums with postnatal depression.

The Clapham group meets weekly and a professionally trained counsellor

(who also suffered PND twice) runs the meetings. Liz Wise, the charity’s

counsellor says: “PND is such a terrifying illness and often mums

suffer in silence. Our group offers support and help when mums are

feeling low and perhaps lonely and very frightened”. Liz is also the

PND coordinator for the NCT at national level and has over 15 years

experience working in this field. For details of the Clapham group

meetings please contact Liz at [email protected] , 07773 283556.

All calls are confidential.

NCT’s Shared Experiences Helpline

Our Shared Experiences Helpline supports parents who are experiencing specific difficulties, problems, worries or other issues during pregnancy, birth and early parenthood by putting them in touch with someone who personally understands.

If you or someone you know needs the support of the Shared Experiences Helpline, call 0300 330 0700 on Monday to Friday from 9am-7pm. You can leave a message outside of these hours and someone will call you back.

If you’ve had a challenging experience during your pregnancy, birth or early parenthood and would like to volunteer so that you can help us to make a difference to parents who really need us, email [email protected].

Desperate for a bit of fresh air?

Join our Walks on the Commons group for some fresh air and exercise whilst meeting other parents -every Friday 3.15-4pm. Everybody is welcome; pregnant women, new mums and dads and parents of toddlers. We meet outside Gail's cafe on Northcote Road (SW11 6QL). On the last Friday of each moth the meeting point is St. Andrew’s Church, Battersea Rise.

Please do email Kate before attending for the first time as she is the only volunteer and is occasionally unavailable to lead the group. And please do let Kate know if you are interested in volunteering to assist her in leading the Walks on the Common.
