The Brush 毛笔: The brush used in Chinese brush painting is traditionally made of rabbit hair or even wolf hair (Now there are brushes made from fake hair)! These hairs have small fibers and result in the brush being very soft. The brush usually has a pointed, fine tip which is key in producing different types of lines.
The Ink 墨:Today, ink for Chinese brush painting can be found in 2 forms, either in liquid form or in a stone slab form. The liquid form is already made and ready to paint with but for the stone slab, painters have to grind it down. After it is grinded, water is added to make it a liquid for painting.
The art of chinese brush painting
Unlike art during the Holocaust which focused mostly on humans, traditional Chinese brush painting focuses more on nature (landscapes and animals) and occasionally there will be paintings of humans. It started in 4000 BC and has been
continuously developing over the course of the
years.! Traditional Chinese brush painting was of landscapes and closely connected to other crafts
such as pottery. In the 1st century AD, Buddhism was introduced to China and paintings of religious murals became popular. Figure painting gained its popularity during the Song dynasty (960-1127).
