The BIG Interview Darren Hood - cleaner

In this feature , we find out about the jobs people with a learning disability do . Today we meet someone who is a student on our Peer Information Project ( PIP ) and has now got himself a job . Please introduce yourself to us ... I ‘ m Darren Hood & I started working as a cleaner at Isleworth Town Primary School in April this year .
How did you get the job ? I looked at the jobs on the Hounslow Council website . I sent them my CV & my support worker helped me with a letter . We told them about my learning disability & they gave me a work trial . I could then prove to them I could do the job . This meant I didn ’ t have to go for an interview . jobs . hounslow . gov . uk
What does your job involve ? I vacuum 3 classrooms & corridors . I clean the tables & empty the bins . I like to get to work early . So I allow plenty of time to travel there on the bus .
What do you like most about the job ? I like vacuuming and seeing the other staff members . I also like earning the money I am paid every month .
What do you buy with the money you earn ? I like to pay all my own bills & food shop .
What do you enjoyed about being on PIP ? I enjoy meeting new people especially Sharon Birch .
What do you like to do in your spare time ? I like to play FIFA 13 on my PlayStation !
