Meet our Editorial Staff

Ahmad Garnett is a senior mass communications and general broadcasting major from Upper Marlboro Maryland. Ahmad began writing with the Spartan Echo Fall of 2022 and he emerged as a sportswriter covering the 2023 MEAC basketball tournament. This led to Ahmad receiving a scholarship award from The Associated Press Sports Editors (APSE). Ahmad also interned at Focus Sports TV in the summer of 2023 and hopes to continue his Journalist career and one day be a Sports Beat reporter.

Carlos Tankard is a junior psychology major from Suffolk, VA and is the education editor of the Spartan Echo and has been apart of Echo for a year. He is apart of the Robert C. Nusbaum Honors College and the Nation Association of Black Journalist. He has a passion for writing and expresses that through the Spartan Echo. 

Milani Asia is a Junior from Richmond, Virginia who is majoring in Mass Communications/Journalism. Milani joined the Spartan Echo last year and is now leading the creative section. She is a writer, poet, and self-published author of “Ugly Fry.” She is looking forward to all of your creative writing submissions and working with you all.

Tatyana Canty. She is a sophomore and is currently majoring in Mass Communications with a focus in General Broadcast. She is also a hardworking out-of-state student. During her first semester at

NSU, she focused on building her experience and resumé. Tatyana started as a photographer for the Spartan Echo. After just her first semester, Tatyana was then promoted to Photo Editor. Tatyana looks

forward to the many possibilities and fun opportunities that NSU has to offer.
