WHAT TO BRING
WHAT TO BRING AND WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED
The SBBU challenge is self-supported so you will need to bring most of what you need , including :
• Camping chair / stretcher / mattress , pillow and blanket
• Food , drinks and supplements o Some examples of the types of foods to bring :
• Mixed nuts , cranberries , apples , pasta with gravy , soups , biltong / droewors ( nothing too heavy ) o The Settebello Restaurant is on the Italian Club grounds ( very close to where the barracks are ) so you will be able to order from there during restaurant hours as well o Remember to eat early and often – don ’ t wait until you ’ re hungry
• Running gear o Challenger number and bib o Longs and shorts , peak caps , beanies / buffs , gloves , jacket
• Evenings and early mornings will be cool o Changes of clothes and socks – several if possible o Extra pair of running shoes if you have o Reflector vest / clothing o Head torch and spare batteries o Compression socks are always handy o Sunglasses o Warm jacket / tracksuit for downtime o Light rain jacket in case of rain
• Vaseline / bum cream / Ass Magic o To be applied liberally and everywhere o Please don ’ t forget to apply Vaseline on your feet – 100 kilometres and 100 miles are both a long way to go with flaming blistered feet !
