In August I went to
Tennessee, which is a region
in America, to see the solar
eclipse. The totality lasted 2
minutes and 38 seconds. We
had very good weather so
we could see it really clearly.
We made our own viewing
glasses using paper plates and
solar fi lm. You could see a bit
of pretty pink light at “fi ve
o’clock” then the “diamond
ring”, when you could start to
see the sun again.
One of the holiday highlights
was Dollywood, which is
a theme park. It was fun
because I went on all the
water rides and got Daddy
very wet. I was really lucky
because the American
children had gone back to
school so there were no
queues and I could stay on the
rides for as long as I wanted
(or just sprint around from
the exit back to the beginning
to get straight back on). My
favourite ride was Daredevil
Falls and I went on it eight
times. There was a lot of
live music that I loved and
enjoyed listening to.
