LETTER FROM THE GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT
RICH ' S RAP
As our summer routine continues and rapidly comes to a halt , we are excited for season to finally be upon us . The North Greens opened for the first-time last month after months of being closed . We are excited about the grow-in and believe this season will be a great one on our new greens . Many improvements to the turf conditions will be noticeable as well .
Our weed eradication program was a huge success from late April to current day . This will continue to be our focus over the next few months . Our over-seeding of the North Course occurs in early November and we are excited about the different contrast and definition it will bring plus the added benefits it provides the Bermuda grass in the cooler months . The East will follow in late November and the South wrapping up in early December .
Our focus is on detail work anticipation of fuller tee sheets . We have started our fresh layers of pine straw throughout and will continue into late November . Bunker edging , lake bank work and cart path smoothing are also high priority moving into the fall . We continue to hone our skills in turf management with our staff learning how to multitask more than ever . Our Assistant Superintendents have played a major role in helping with the equipment repair and maintenance aspect during a very long summer growing season . The rest of the crew has also stepped up in the cross-training area . More employees are now trained on multiple pieces of equipment allowing for us to be more efficient than the previous months .
See you around the course ,
Richard Osgood
Golf Course Superintendent
