LET TER FROM THE GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT
RICH'S RAP
Inching very close to season has us very excited here in the Maintenance Department. November was a great
success as we completed our winter over-seed applications to the East and North courses. The South course will be
completed early this month. We can finally show off our finely-honed skill set for the members and the public. We
have a way to go but we continue to get better daily with a very committed training program for our entire staff.
Jessie and Mike, the two Assistant Superintendents, are implementing a great training program to improve the
overall job skills needed for a great golf course. New plantings at the Clubhouse are getting close to a mature bloom
and are looking great for season. Juan and his team will continue fine tuning the surrounding plantings throughout
the clubhouse grounds.
With the East and North courses being over-seeded, they will take on a new look with a highly visible striping
pattern throughout. We will continue a very productive agronomic approach rolling through December if mother
nature cooperates. This approach will include light top-dressing with minimal sand to provide a better and truer
putting surface. Rolling greens weekly will also help. Our cart paths and lake banks continue to improve weekly but
still have a way to go. They will be ready by December’s end. The new Ventrac tractor is getting a workout to make
sure we can provide these improvements.
With open arms, we welcome December with great enthusiasm and look forward to seeing all our members on the
course!
See you around the course,
Richard Osgood
