I was born in Marlborough in rural Wiltshire and lived in nearby Hungerford, which is well known for its antique shops and the terrible Hungerford Massacre.
In the UK, I had a completely different lifestyle to the one I have here in Spain. My daughters were very involved with show jumping and eventing, so all of our time was taken up with traveling to equestrian events all over the United Kingdom.
We lived in an old farmhouse in the middle of beautiful Berkshire, which is so very much different to my house by the beach in Mijas.
I had previously lived in Greece, on the island of Crete, for 5 years, and I loved the Mediterranean lifestyle, with the wonderful climate and way of life. This made me realise that one day I would leave the UK for warmer climes and a more relaxed lifestyle, so 9 years ago I moved here to Spain.
I moved to the Costa Del Sol with my youngest daughter then aged 4.
Recently, my daughter, now aged 13 years old, started riding, so I'm sure that it will only be a matter of time until we once again own a horse.
Getting back into the equestrian community has made me realise that there is a demand here in Spain for the wide variety of riding clothing, accessories and horse tack that are available in the UK. I have now started a new business venture called Costa Caballos, supplying yards, shops and equestrian centres all along the Costa Del Sol.
I have been donating to Positively Pink since I arrived here in Spain and have had the breast screening process myself.
The sole purpose of Positively Pink is to raise the necessary funds to provide a free breast screening programme to British Women who live on the Costa del Sol. The screening programme is a comprehensive screening process that includes a consultation, physical examination and a mammogram and/or ultrasound or in some cases both. This is carried out in conjunction with Clinica Medicare, a British health centre, based in La Cala de Mijas.
