SYMBOLIC REPRESENTATION OF MEXICAN CONTEMPORARY ART Currently the contemporary art in Mexico has been characterized by motifs which seek to rescue the cultural roots of the country . We can clearly see that many cultural institutions have focused on infinitely reproduced symbols of pre-hispanic art .
A clear example is the logo of the National Museum of Anthropology and History in Mexico City , supported by government agencies as INAH ( National Institute of Anthropology and History ) CONACULTA ( National Council for Culture and the Arts ) and the INBA ( National Institute Fine Art )

If we focus on the means of contemporary art in Mexico we can highlight the street art . Young artists reprising the themes mentioned have filled the streets of meaningful images of the culture to indicate that an area has been designated as a cultural space , likewise the graffiti has been placed within the mainstream current expression and has positioned this medium as significant representative in biennials worldwide .

Currently at one of the most important fairs of contemporary art in Mexico there has been a clear presentation of the influence of these cultural symbols as a way means of representing and identifying the country in the international art scene . Clearly we can recognize how the symbolism of the skull plays a fundamental role in the design of images related to art . Probably because of its symbolic connotation this image is so powerful that any visitor can identify it as a cultural space .
