Issued during the American Revolution June 1, 1779.
Partly-printed 5¾”x8½” Massachusetts State Lottery, Class
the Third bond in which the state promises ‘...pay the Possessor
of this note the sum of fifteen pounds by the first day of January,
1783..’ Nice vignette of a pine tree encircled by a rattlesnake
engraved by Nathaniel Hurd. ‘Death To Counterfeit This’ is
entwined in ribbon below. Mounted near top on backing sheet.

Boston’s most prominent 18th century Jewish citizen, patriot
Moses Michael Hayes, lists the amount of money and dates
due him from wealthy shipper Dr. John Coffin Jones.
Autographed document (3 pages, 7¼”x12") signed ‘M.M.
Hays’ and ‘MMH,’ two conjoined sheets, front & verso, Boston,
Aug 9, 1788. Docketed on fourth page by Hays ‘Mr. J.C. Jones.
Acct / Currt. / August 9, 1788.’ On laid paper watermarked
with a crown and the initials, ‘GR’ (King George). Dr. John
Coffin Jones’ current account with Hays as of that date listing
‘Time when Monies are to be paid’ by Jones to Hays. Very
fine.

one page, 6½”x8¼”, Paris, Feb 3, 1787. In English, in full,
‘Marquis de la Fayette’s Compliments Wait upon Mr Derby
and Begs the Honour of His Company, at Dinner on Monday
next. Paris Fe 3th 1787. The favour of an Answer is Requested.’
