PH $300-400 Tom Wolfe (1931-) is U.S. journalist and novelist known as proponent of ‘New Journalism,’ the application of fiction writing techniques to journalism. ‘The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test’ (1968) book chronicles the life of a traveling group of hippies. First Edition, Fourth Printing, artistically multi-color signed ‘Tom Wolfe’ on page adjacent to title page, with original dust jacket. Pair of First Edition, First Printing hardcover books, ‘The New Centurions,’ signed ‘Joseph Wambaugh’ on the title page, Little, Brown & Co, 1970, with original dustjacket; and ‘The Blue Knight,’ signed ‘Joseph Wambaugh’ on half-title page, Little, Brown & Co, 1972, with original dustjacket. Of historical note, ‘The New Centurions,’ Wambaugh’s first book, met with critical acclaim and popular success while Wambaugh was still working in the detective division. He reportedly remarked, ‘I would have guys in handcuffs asking me for autographs.’ Slight fading, but very fine. Inscribed by Heaney on the title page: ‘Seamus Heaney / for Keith - / with good wishes / 25th February 1972.’ A nice example of the author’s second book with an early inscription.
