1979 SATCHEL PAIGE AUTOGRAPHED

A First Day Cover commemorating the 1982 induction of Oriole
great Frank Robinson into the Baseball Hall-of-Fame. FDC
carries autographs of four fellow HOFers: Mickey Mantle (blue
ballpoint), Joe DiMaggio (blue sharpie), Ralph Kiner (red felt
tip), and Johnny Mize (black fountain). Features beautiful silk
cache portrait of Robinson. Circular date stamp of Robinson’s
induction, August 2nd, 1982. Very fine.

A beautiful cover commemorating 40 years since the
establishment of the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, featuring a
beautiful silk cachet portrait of Negro-League legend and
HOFer Satchel Paige. Paige has autographed this item in blue
ballpoint to the right of his picture. Circular date stamp indicates postmark of June 12th, 1979. Bold signature.

1980-82 SATCHEL PAIGE AUTOGRAPHED
BUSINESS CARD ON FDC .................................. PH $350-500

A somewhat unusual item, a business card for when HOF
Pitching great Satchel Paige was Vice-President of the then
Cardinals Triple-A affiliate, the Springfield Redbirds, signed
in black ballpoint along the left side. This card was then affixed
to a First Day Cover commemorating a Jackie Robinson Black
Heritage stamp, and then date-stamped August 2nd, 1982, a
HOF induction date (not Paige’s), overlapping the business
card. A cleverly put together item...the signature on the card
must date sometime between 1980 and 1982, when he held
this mostly ceremonial title position. Nice bold signature by
Satchel too.

A First Day Cover commemorating Hammerin’ Hank Aaron’s
induction into the Hall of Fame. Cover features beautiful silk
cachet image of Aaron. And signatures!...signed by the
following Hall-of-Famers: Mickey Mantle (blue ballpoint),
Hank Aaron (blue sharpie), Johnny Mize (blue sharpie), Brooks
Robinson (black sharpie), and Buck Leonard (very light blue
ballpoint). FDC date stamped August 2nd, 1982. Mantle’s
autograph especially nice and bold.

1983 500 HOME RUN CLUB SIGNED HANDCOLORED
FDC W/ MANTLE, WILLIAMS ......................... PH $1000-1500

A handcolored First Day Cover featuring six HOF-er players,
all part of the 500 Home Run club. Signatures include: Mickey
Mantle (black ink), Ted Williams (blue ballpoint), Eddie
Mathews (blue ballpoint), Hank Aaron (blue ballpoint),
Harmon Killebrew (blue sharpie), and Mike Schmidt (blue
sharpie). FDC painted on date of issue, July 6th, 1983, as
signified by the artist as well as the circular date stamp. The
Mantle and Williams autographs are excellent specimens.

Four First Day Covers commemorating Babe Ruth (all postmarked 7/6/83), each with multiple signatures of various MLB
players, mostly Hall-of-Famers. First cover features Cy Young
Award winners, and signed by HOFers Sandy Koufax, Steve
Carlton, Gaylord Perry, Tom Seaver, Jim Palmer, and non-HOFer
Don Newcombe. Next cover features a beautiful silk cachet portrait
of Ruth, with the following HOF autographs: Frank Robinson,
Willie Mays, Ernie Banks, Hank Aaron, Willie McCovey, and
Reggie Jackson. Third cover has a simple B&W portrait of Ruth,
with five more HOFers: A.B. Chandler, Johnny Mize, Burleigh
Grimes, Joe Sewell, and George Kell. Last cover has several older
player signatures, with two HOFers, Carl Hubbell and Bill Terry,
along with Tony Cucccinello, Wally Berger, Dick Bartell, Hal
Schumacher and Woody English. Amazing collection of
autographs found on these four Babe Ruth commemorative covers.

Boudreau, Walt Alston, Johnny Mize, Brooks Robinson and
Monte Irvin. SECOND cover with a ‘Dauntless Competitor’
color cachet of Robinson sliding, features HOFers: Earl Averill,
Sandy Koufax, Buck Leonard, Lou Boudreau, Pee Wee Reese,
Warren Spahn, A.B. Chandler, Burleigh Grimes, Brooks
Robinson, George Kell and Johnny Mize.

Outstanding collection of 35 commemorative First Day Covers,
all featuring Baseball HOFer and American icon Jackie
Robinson. Nearly all the covers are autographed, mostly by
MLB baseball players. HOFer signatures scattered in this
collection include: Hank Aaron and Frank Robinson on same
cover; Pee Wee Reese and Duke Snider on same cover; Lou
Brock and Rickey Henderson on same cover, Bobby Doerr,
Billy Herman and Charles Gehringer on same cover; Brooks
Robinson and Eddie Mathews on same cover; single signed
include: Leo Durocher, Dave Winfield, Harmon Killebrew, Cool
Papa Bell, Larry Doby, Dick Williams, Robin Roberts, Mike
Schmidt, Charles Gehringer, and several non-HOFers as well.
Signatures also found here by Robinson’s widow, Rachel
Robinson, along with one of their youngest son, David, as well
as Robinson’s sister Willa Mae. Over sixty (60) autographs
found here!

1982 FIRST DAY COVER SIGNED BY

A First Day Cover featuring a beautiful silk cacheted portrait
of Jackie Robinson, autographed by two HOF Yankee greats,
Mickey Mantle (blue ballpoint) and Bill Dickey (blue sharpie).
Mantle’s signature very bold; Dickey’s signature bold but
slightly smeared. FDC carries circular date stamp from
Cooperstown on August 2nd, 1982, an induction date for that
year. Very fine.

A First Day Cover commemorating the 1982 issue of Jackie
Robinson’s Black Heritage stamp autographed by ALL THREE
DiMaggio brothers! Joltin’ Joe has signed in green felt-tip, Dom
in blue ballpoint, and Vince also in blue ballpoint. Very unusual
to find all three brothers’ signatures on one item, much less on
a nice cover like this. Signatures all very bold.

A created item, this a 1982 First Day Cover featuring Jackie
Robinson (Cooperstown date-stamp) with a cut signature of
Robinson affixed to the lower right corner. Cut measures
1¾”x3", and in blue ballpoint states ‘Best Wishes / Jackie
Robinson.’ Autograph is a real beauty, very bold. What a cool
item to commemorate not only a baseball legend but a true
icon from the 20th century.

1981 ROY CAMPANELLA AUTOGRAPHED
FIRST DAY COVER ............................................ PH $750-1000

Very unusual, a post-accident signature by Brooklyn Dodgers
legend Roy Campanella. Surprisingly bold signature (with
‘Best Wishes’) graces a First Day Cover, with a beautiful silk
cache portrait. Cover date-stamped 6/29/1981. Signature in
blue sharpie. WOW!
