We’ ve had yet another busy year in Wellingborough with much of it concentrated on our community, cultural and charity projects. We’ ve now raised almost £ 35,000 for over 40 local, national and international charities and disaster appeals.
In 2015 we raised funds for 2 local charities donating £ 1,001 each to:
• Niamh’ s Next Step- who raise funds for research into the childhood disease, Neuroblastoma
• KidsAid- who work with children and young people to help them overcome traumatic events
In addition to this, we continue to sponsor child education in Gujarat and also support the annual HQ fundraising appeals.
Bollywood vs Bhangra Charity Fundraiser
On Saturday 14 November 2015, we celebrated our 8th annual charity fundraiser at The Ruby Lounge in Diana’ s Health and Fitness Club, Wellingborough with a Bollywood vs Bhangra theme. Once again, this event was very well supported with just over 150 people in attendance from various communities. There was music from Ikon DJs, a raffle and tombola, some lovely food made by our dedicated volunteers and cheque presentations to KidsAid and Niamh’ s Next Step. The committee are very appreciative and express their thanks to the many volunteers who helped engineer such a successful event. Also very big thanks to the numerous people and companies that donated prizes for the raffle and tombola.
Our nominated charities for 2016 are also both local to Northamptonshire:
• Chelsea’ s Angels- supporting children diagnosed with cancer, primarily Neuroblastoma
• Glamis Hall – a group who provide services for the local community, particularly the elderly
As always, we’ d like to thank all of our friends from other communities who continue to give us their support and backing. Here are some of our branch activities from the last 12 months.
