Participants were blind folded and given tasters of dishes for them to identify the ingredients. During the extended lunch period, Rangoli and Cake Decorating competitions were organised by Bolton and Birmingham Branches respectively for which winners and runners-up were presented with trophies after lunch. The afternoon session began with Walsall branch presenting a ‘Mr & Mrs’ game where couples participated to see how much they knew about each other. There was also audience interaction and it was enjoyed by all. Jitubhai, SPA (UK) President presented his speech which was followed by Leicester Branch performing a short comedy drama based on ‘Doctors & Patients’ and London Branch kept the audience captivated with their fusion of a ‘Garba & Modern Pop’ dance item. Raffle tickets were drawn and prizes presented to winners and Ranjanaben thanked all branches that had donated food and raffle prizes for their generosity. On that note, without the tremendous support from all of our Branch Mahila teams, main SPA (UK) office bearers and Branch members, this Samelan would not have been possible. Ranjanaben and I would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Family Fun Day – 29th June 2014 This year our Annual Fun Day was held at Wicksteed Park, Kettering. Despite continuous rain 2 days before the event, luck was on our side and even though we had rain on and off, we had a fairly good turnout. It was good to see familiar and new faces. Luton branch organised rounders and again we had the pleasure of Rugby branch hosting the bingo session and despite a few interruptions from the rain we managed to finish the session. This was one of those moments when everyone in our community works together. Even though we had some heavy bursts of rain, members used tarpaulin as a makeshift cover for our other members to sit under so they could continue playing bingo. Dates for your Diary 35th Mahila Samelan East London Branch raised £106.00 through the sale of tickets for raffle prizes and the money will go towards SPA (UK). The Mahila Committee would like to thank Birmingham, Leicester, Luton, East London, Rugby, Walsall and London branches for their continued support with this event. Despite our own everyday domestic hurdles, we have thoroughly enjoyed getting involved in organising SPA (UK) events, grown more confident in ourselves and of course loved sharing our experiences with other members. Sunday 26th April 2015 (Birmingham) SPA UK Senior Citizens Samelan & SPA UK Sports Day 2014 The Mahilas have played a key role at both these events by selling raffle tickets. Our thanks to all Mahilas who have helped us on these days.
