SECRETARY REPORT
This has been a special year
- “We collectively raised £20,000!”
Jai Shree Krishna to SPA (UK) Trustees,
Executives, Prathindhis and fellow
members
This year I feel it appropriate to
start off my report with my sincere
thanks to all the branch volunteers in
making this year so “special” and the
“success” it has been. The unity of the
Prajapati community has helped us be
successful.
The reason I highlight this year as being
“special” is because on the 13th April
2014 members from all SPA branches
came forward and volunteered to make
the annual Mahilla Samelan a truly
amazing event! This year the event
nearly did not go ahead as we did
not have a host branch, however our
newly elected Mahila team took charge
and with the assistance of branch
volunteers, delivered a really enjoyable
event. Read the full report on the
Mahila page.
This year is “special” because the
generosity of our Prajapati members
has been colossal and we have
collectively raised £20,000 for the
charity of the year, Water Aid.
This “success” really set the scene
for the rest of the year for SPA (UK).
We had excellent participation for
the events organised by the sub
committees during the year:
Mahilas - Ranjanaben and Gitaben
along with their team have been
8
absolutely fantastic with their support
in the first year for all the SPA (UK)
events and of course not forgetting the
success of the family fun day which
had a huge attendance. Well done
Mahila team.
Youth - Nikhilbhai, Mahendrabhai,
Divyenbhai and their team not only
organised the annual Sports Day with
the host Tameside Branch, they also
co-ordinated the golf tournament with
Arvindbhai of Leicester, and cricket
tournament, with assistance from
Leicester. I would like say a big thanks
to all involved. Working closely with
branch youth leaders, the youth team
also organised the SPA Ball after a long
absence. It is really good to see the
youth making some progress to engage
with the branch youths. See Youth
report for full details.
Single? Let’s Mingle! - The event
headed by Anilbhai and his team has
been in much demand and once again
there has been maximum participation
at each event. Well done to the whole
team and thank you so much.
There has also been some feedback
from members requesting local
branches to assist by way of keeping
a list of boys and girls who are looking
for partners. This requires a bit of
thought and willingness from the
branches, and I hope this is something
we could progress in the future.
Sandesh - Another excellent
production of the Sandesh by
Dineshbhai and team reaching
thousands of members locally,
nationally and internationally receiving
brilliant feedback. Well done everyone.
Senior Members Samelan - This
year the event was jointly hosted by
Walsall and Birmingham branch with
co-ordination from Jasuben SPA (UK)
Vice President and input from the
Senior members. I would like to take
this opportunity to say a huge thanks
to all the volunteers from the two
branches.
This event has now been endorsed as
an annual event and going forward a
sub-committee will be formed who
will plan the event with the assistance
from SPA (UK) officers and branches.
See full report for further details.
SPAITF - SPA (UK) International
Trust Fund chaired by Hansaben K
Mistry and Prakashbhai P Mistry
have continued to administer the
International Trust Fund with the help
of the ITF committee. This year marked
the end of the three year term and a
new Chair and Secretary were elected.
I am pleased to advise that Hansaben
K Mistry has remained as the Chair
