Dear Beautiful Bride,
Congratulations! You are crossing the threshold of one of life’s most privileged moments – a day that is dedicated all to you and the fulfillment of your dream. You are getting married! Don’t let backstage drama steal your scene. Keep your love in the spotlight with a few tips to enjoy a stress free journey down the aisle so you can start your new life chapter with joy and confidence.
Avoid conflict with the element of “surprise.” Everyone has an opinion – but the most
important one is that which you share with your mate. A fabulous way to avoid conflict around the details of your day is to answer people’s questions about food or music, etc... by saying “it’s a surprise.” People will press you if you say “I’m not telling” or get angry if you create resistance or insistence that you have it handled or you’re doing it “your way.” Of course you are! Keep them feeling excited without getting insulted by responding with “it’s a surprise” with regard to anything you don’t want to argue about.
Craft your vows, speeches and other meaningful aspects early. It’s tempting to wait
until the last minute to feel “inspired” by the pressure of a deadline. This only adds more stress. Give yourself a break and create the foundation of your talk early. You can leave the “icing on the cake” with a few tweaks the day of if it feels right. Take your vows earnestly for they nourish your commitment and make sure they reflect who you are and the bond you are creating. Consider making your speeches early so you can relax and focus on the celebration. You may choose to thank everyone as a couple and then use your individual time to dedicate a speech to each other. If you are using multi-media, check your technology thoroughly and have backups as it can easily fail you and steal your thunder.
Spend the money on video and photography. This can be one of the more expensive quotes
you’ll get but it’s worth it. If you are working hard to get into the best shape of your life and wearing a dress that costs more than any other in your closet, then make this your best photo shoot. Memories do fade but film is forever. If you can’t splurge for a wedding pro, get someone studying film from a university or college – or even a reliable cousin who won’t “drink and film.” Anything is better than nothing. You will enjoy it on every anniversary for years to come.
