pa manager Stéphane Briand grew up in Wakefield, Quebec and witnessed firsthand the transformation of the town’s old mill into the magnificent Wakefield Mill Hotel.
By the time the inn opened in the early 2000's, he had completed his hotel and restaurant management studies and begun working at the inn. He has never looked back. Since 2005 when the spa opened – it was recently renamed "Spa Eau Vive"– he has served as manager. “It was a new career direction for me," he says. "We have five treatment rooms in total, two of which can accommodate couples' treatments and one dedicated for pedicures and manicures. Many of our treatments are couples-oriented since our 42-room inn is a popular destination for romantic getaways.” Stéphane emphasizes that what sets the spa apart is the staff. The high quality of treatments is reflected in the many effusive guest comments. “It is the human part of the business that is strong here.”
One of the spa's unique features is the outdoor massage tent set in the garden for couples' massages from May through October. It is steps from the La Pêche River and the 28-foot MacLaren Waterfalls. Guests can choose the Dream Weaver massage package that provides a massage within this glorious parkland setting.
An indoor couples' massage room is located right next to the falls with large glass windows overlooking the cascading water. The waterfall remains active throughout the winter, creating beautiful natural sculptures along its frozen banks. It is at this time of year that the spa's hot stone massages are often most popular.
