Novo Spa owner Nora Londono and husband Gabriel Fernandez were born and raised in Colombia, South America. They both worked in the oil industry. The question they often get asked is, “So what brought you to Canada?” Nora laughs and says, “It seemed to be a time in our lives when our children were going off to university and both of us felt we needed a life change too.” They applied for a visa to move to Canada and it was accepted. In 2003 they immigrated and settled into their new home in Toronto. In 2004 they both thought it was time to put their plan into action and thought about opening a spa. Nora says, “We weren’t spa people but since I was a young girl I always loved wellness and I was always buying creams from specialty stores and was always taking care of my skin! I had a friend who owned a spa and I had helped her in her business.”
After much contemplation and planning they opened their spa in the trendy Yorkville area of Toronto in November 2005. “It was very difficult in the beginning,” Nora explains. “We didn’t know how things worked, it is different in every country.” With hard work and a great staff that helped them pull through the growing pains, Novo Spa has become a top urban spa offering reasonable prices, friendly service and amazing treatments.
