Discover Your Dosha
According to ancient Ayurvedic philosophy, every person is made of a combination of five basic elements found in the universe: space, air, fire, water, and earth. The combination of these elements in the body form three life forces or energies, called doshas, which control how our bodies work. The three doshas are: vata (space and air); pitta (fire and water); and kapha (water and earth).

We all have a unique mix of the three doshas, but one is usually more dominant. Our dosha generally determines our physical and personality traits, likes and dislikes. Once you know your dosha, you can follow the lifestyle routine that suits your type.
The role of Ayurveda is to restore the body’s natural rhythms through various methods to boost wellbeing. These include herbal preparations, wholesome foods, yoga, meditation, mantras, massage, medicated oils, gemstones, Vedic astrology and daily self-care rituals. Good Ayurveda is not limited to any one method and must be balanced accordingly, based on our individual type. Read up on your dosha and Andrea’s self-care recommendations for her clients to try at home.

Vatas are energetic and agile. They are generally tall and slender, creative and fast learners.
In balance: joyful and enthusiastic.

Pitta
Pitta types are strong with a medium build, are focused and self-confident.
In balance: focused and passionate.
Off balance: irritable and angry.
Self-care: Massage pitta Ayurveda scalp and body formula into the neck and shoulders to reduce tension and relieve headaches/migraines. Rinse. Soak in a relaxing tub using pitta reducing bath salts. Enjoy a cup of Tetley Ayurvedic Cool-Pitta tea.
Kapha
Kaphas are physically strong with an abundance of energy. They are careful, deliberate thinkers.
In balance: compassionate and affectionate.
