An alternative approach is to dig a
hole near a water source and drink
water that seeps into it. Even though
the surrounding soil filters the water,
this method does not guarantee
it’s free from bacteria and other
microorganisms.
2. Solar Still/Distilling
This is one of the safer methods for
gathering potable water when it’s not
readily available. With this technique,
you’ll get water minus those nasty
microorganisms.
Step 1: Dig a pit or hole in the
ground.
Step 2: Place your water container
in the center of the pit or hole. It will
collect condensed water from the solar
still.
Step 3: Cover the pit or hole with
a sheet of sturdy transparent plastic.
Place rocks on the plastic around
the edges of the pit or hole to secure
tightly.
Step 4: Place another rock or any
heavy object on the center of the
plastic so that it points towards the
container. And it’s done!
