FORMER ODEON BUILDING CLERK STREET
Rob Arthur, Cinema Operations Manager for Glasgow based G1 group who
have purchased the former Odeon cinema building recently
attended a meeting of The Southside Association to update them on the
current situation with their re-development. Briefly the main points from
the meeting were
* At the moment no name for the new building has been decided upon.
The name may come from a public competition.
*Due to some unexpected interior re-development issues, the planned
opening date is now summer 2017
*High investment continues to be spent on this development to ensure as
sympathetic as possible restoration to the building’s former glory days.
*A short run book is planned about the history of this building. G1 are
currently interested in any personal interest stories and recollections
connected with this building over the many years of its life.
SOUTHSIDE COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Recently re-established in 2015, the SCC nominated new office bearers in
May this year.
Meetings are held in The Gray Room at The Nelson Hall on the second
Monday of the month (except July, August and December) at 7.00pm

Representing the interests of local residents in The Southside for over 40
years, the SA meets on the first Tuesday of every month (except July and
August) in the Southside Community Centre at 7.00pm
