Clambake celebrates 16th year
By MARK REYNOLDS

The Marlborough Chapter of UNICO
hosted their 16th annual Clambake last
Sunday at Victor Spaccarelli’s Benmarl
Winery that attracted a crowd of nearly
300 guests.
UNICO member Willie Biggin said
the proceeds from the event go into the
General Fund that eventually ends up
being given out at Christmas time to the
food bank at St. Mary’s, the Marlborough
PBA toy giveaway, the Hudson Valley
Veterans Association, and UNICO’s
Secret Santa food cards for the needy.
Biggin thanked Orange County Party
Rentals for providing the tables and
chairs for the Clambake.
UNICO President Nick Johannets said
they were doing well this year.
“We keep learning and learning and
come up with different ways of doing
things,” he said.
Johannets said he sent out numerous
emails, seeking volunteers to help with
the event.
“We got a good stack today, a lot of
guys to help,” he said, adding that, “This
is one of our major fundraisers.”
Sal Aulogia, of Sally’s Fish Market in
Newburgh, provided the steamed clams
while UNICO had a buffet of hamburgers,
hot dogs, corn on the cob and a variety of
beverages.
The trio All Too Real performed their
versions of classic acoustic/electric rock
throughout the afternoon.
Sal Aulogia, of Sally’s Fish Market, poured out a fresh batch of steamed clams at this year’s
UNICO Clambake.
