During last week’s rare joint meeting
of the Lloyd Town, Planning and Zoning
boards, members stated that the gathering
was due in large part to the controversial
Tremont Hall/High Bridge project. It was
pointed out that the original owner of the
parcel repeatedly told the Planning Board
that under the Adaptive Reuse section
of the code that he would be retaining
the majority of the structure, however,
immediately after approvals were granted
the parcel was sold to Keith Liebolt who
completely demolished and erected a
new building in its place. A consensus
was reached at last week’s tri-board
meeting that although this was allowed
by the code, they would be rewriting the
Adaptive Reuse section to ensure that this

Assembly

City of Newburgh Councilman
Jonathan Jacobson is running to become
the Democratic nominee in the 104th
district of the New York State Assembly.
“We need an effective voice in Albany,”
Jacobson said. “It’s not enough to be on
the right side of the issues. You need
the experience, energy and ideas to be
an effective assemblyman. I will hit the
ground running.”

Frank Skartados,
a Democrat, who
passed away in
April.
Jacobson
served
as
the

County
D e m o c r a t i c Jonathan Jacobson
C o m m i t t e e
chairman for 22 years and for two years
as the chairman of the City of Newburgh
Democratic Committee, until 2016. He
was elected to represent Ward 3 on the
Newburgh City Council last year.
Jacobson also worked as assistant
counsel to former speaker of the Assembly
Stanley Fink. As assistant New York State
attorney general under Attorney General
Robert Abrams, he headed the regional
Consumer Fraud Bureau in Poughkeepsie
in the early 80s. He also served as a
workers’ compensation judge. Jacobson is
a practicing attorney, specializing in real
estate, workers’ compensation and social
security disability.
