One hundred and fifty years ago , when President James Buchanan served in the White House , Edwin Coots opened a funeral home on East Chestnut Street . Upon his death in 1907 , Edwin ’ s two sons , Glover and Froman , became partners in the business . During their partnership , the business moved to a building in the 400 block of Spring Street . Froman managed the business after Glover ’ s death in 1912 with the help of his nephew Edwin M . Coots II . Froman passed away in 1930 . The family-owned business is now in its sixth generation of service to the families of Southern Indiana .
One of the biggest changes in the funeral business is the way that families grieve their loved ones .
