Breaking out of my comfort zone and sucking wind after each half-mile sprint felt invigorating. Don’t get me wrong, I miss swimming. But tapping into tech like Nike Run Club has let me adapt in our current situation. And versatility is key to navigating these trying times that really have no end in sight. As for yoga, my mat is rolled up in a forgotten corner for the time-being. The same isn’t true for 502 Power Yoga, the studio I frequented before the world went topsy-turvy. The local business has opened its studios, like the one in Jeffersonville, for small numbers of yogis. But 502 has also established virtual classes via Zoom. This means you can get in the flow at home while still having a sense of community online. The options obviously don’t stop there. Equipment makers are experiencing huge backlogs to fulfill customer requests, like Concept 2 rowing machines. I’m on a two-month waiting list that only gives the opportunity to actually purchase the pricey device. Peloton finds itself in a similar boat. The stationary bike built with a gigantic tablet screen attached notifies shoppers that long delivery times are expected. Spin classes from the safety of a living room have probably never been more in fashion. Getting into shape is never easy. With a pandemic, you might feel overwhelmed on how to even begin the process.
