A virtual fitness experience
The coronavirus continues to
spread through the United
States on a spin cycle setting.
We’re (thankfully)
under mask orders in public
settings, and social distancing seems like
a possibility throughout the rest of the
year. Needless to say, our physical and
mental health has been tested.
For me, my workout routine was
basically thrown into the trash as COVID-
19 became a pandemic earlier this year. I
swam with a group of guys three times a
week and went to yoga in a packed heated
room four times a month. These fitness
options aren’t on the table anymore, especially
as my second child may arrive any
day now. I’m being as cautious as possible.
But thankfully tech has helped pick up
the pieces for my physical regimen plus
socialization. I downloaded Nike Run
Club at the recommendation of a college
friend. Available on smartphones and
Apple Watch, the app offers leaderboard
functionality to compare mileage with
acquaintances. On top of that it even will
create a training program based off what
sort of race you plan to run.
My buddies and I decided to schedule
a virtual minimarathon for November. (In
