The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the resilience of local businesses , Trueblood said , and despite the challenges , small businesses are still opening or expanding in New Albany .
“ I know everyone has heard ' shop local ’ a lot , but I think this year it ’ s really time to show it ,” she said . “ A lot of businesses may not have been able to qualify for some of the grant money and federal money available , and they have been working so hard this year to stay afloat . Also , if people are still a little concerned and don ’ t want to be a large crowd , small businesses are a smaller environment , and there ’ s usually less of a crowd .”
