Sam Anderson opens McCulloch House Meeting and Event Center

Earlier this year , well-known

restauranteur Sam Anderson stepped down as owner of Sam ’ s Food and Spirits . With a desire to work less and explore new avenues , Sam has once again opened his Clarksville property , naming it the McCulloch House Meeting and Event Center . More than ever before , this building is the perfect size and design for socially-distanced events . “ What made this venue hard to sell in the past is now the perfect way to safely entertain ,” commented Sam .
The John McCulloch House , also known as Montrose , was built in the summer of
1870 . It is the last remaining structure associated with the McCulloch family who contributed significantly to the settling of Clarksville . The McCulloch House sits on block 18 of Clark ’ s Grant , which was obtained by George Rogers Clark in 1789 .
More recently , in 1993 , the house was purchased and renovated into Major McCulloch ’ s Steak House . Then in 1996 the historic farm house was purchased by Sam Anderson . For the past 24 years it has been home to three of his restaurants : Sunset Grill , Stratto ’ s and Sam ’ s Food and Spirits , and also operated for a brief time as an event venue called Plantation Montrose . Finally , in July of 2016 , Sam sold the house to another
