Declutter your digital
Unused, annoying content only gets in the way
A
fresh start. A new year. And the
cliché a new you. We hear this
every January, with the empha-
sis mainly focused on physical
changes like exercise. But why not re-
evaluate our digital lifestyles, as well, when
heading into a new decade?
First things first: Curate your Facebook
and Twitter feeds. I signed up for Mark
Zuckerberg’s social media behemoth in
its infancy, as I was in college at the time.
Back then you accepted the friendship

request of any person who crossed your
path. But now that’s a recipe for disaster.
In other words, don’t spend your time
arguing with people you hardly know or
getting steamed over stupid memes. Either
defriend them or ensure their posts won’t
pop up on your home feed. This is possible
by clicking or tapping the three dots at the
top-right of a post, then unfollowing said
person. That way you can remain digital
friends if desired. For me this has led to
mainly encountering photos of dogs and
kids of friends on
Facebook; I’m content
with that.
The same is true
for Twitter, a site
that can make your
blood boil without
proper management.
Think of the people
and companies that
are beneficial to your
day. Throw away any that drag you down
