John Stepp:“ We are planting a garden in honor of the 250th birthday of the nation, so will plant period specific crops such as skirrets and some other stuff. Already planted some fruit trees in the fall that have historical significance such as sheep nose apple and Thomas Jefferson’ s favorite pear tree the Seckel. There will be more modern things too. As the nation developed so did our agricultural technologies. I made red, white, and blue concrete planters and am going to plant red, white, and blue flowers in them. I’ m planting a lot of perennials as our colonial ancestors would have. Going to hang my " Betsy Ross Flag," back in the windows as well.”
