A Season of Magic in Downtown Somerset

By Bobby Clue, Executive Director, Somerset-Pulaski Co. Chamber of Commerce
Every December, as the first twinkle lights go up downtown and the smell of hot chocolate fills the air, I’ m reminded just how magical the holiday season can be here in Somerset. For me, that magic comes to life most vividly on the evening of our Community Christmas Parade, which will take place this year on Saturday, December 6th in Downtown Somerset.
This event has always been one of my favorite traditions, not only because it brings together thousands of families from across Pulaski County and beyond, but because it represents everything that makes our community so special— our togetherness, our creativity, and our genuine love for celebrating with one another.
As someone who’ s now had the privilege of helping organize fourteen Christmas parades, I can honestly say that each one feels just as exciting as the first. But these days, the experience carries an extra layer of meaning for me personally. I now have two young daughters who eagerly await this night all year long— picking out their Christmas sweaters, waving to Santa, and seeing their friends along the parade route. Watching their joy and wonder reminds me exactly why we work so hard to make this event so memorable.
Of course, none of this would be possible without a tremendous amount of teamwork behind the scenes. I want to extend my sincere thanks to our Chamber Ambassadors & Board Members, the Kentucky National Guard, Somerset Independent Schools, the City of Somerset Police Department, and my amazing Chamber staff( Crystal Kidd, Ace Swiderek & Ross Corder)— all of whom dedicate countless hours to ensuring this is the largest and most spectacular parade in the region. Their dedication and attention to detail are what make this celebration shine year after year.
Someday, when I look back on my time as Chamber Director, I know the memories of these parades will stand out— the music, the lights, the laughter, and the feeling of community pride that fills every inch of Main Street. It’ s a reminder that what we do together as a community matters.
So, mark your calendars and bundle up the family. Join us on December 6th at 5:00pm as we come together once again to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year— Somerset style.

Merry Christmas,

Bobby Clue Executive Director Somerset-Pulaski Co. Chamber of Commerce
