Early 1990s, Paris - activists with the ACT UP group are
leading the campaign for greater action to deal with the
AIDS epidemic. ACT UP’s methods sometimes prove
controversial, but for many of those involved this is a
life-and-death fight. One such activist is Sean, a young
radical who strikes up a relationship with newcomer Nathan.
Based on writer-director Robin Campillo's own experiences, 120 BPM overflows with
passion. It is a vivid account of an often neglected chapter in modern history, and
focuses on a struggle that still feels urgent. Campillo recreating ACT UP’s intense
struggle, never forgetting the often-devastating human stories behind the politics.
