AUTUMN | WINTER 2019 FILM SCHOOLS FILM A Jar Full Of Life aka Viel Machglas Dirty God Thursday 07 November Wednesday 06 November In her early 20s, Marleen (Jella Haase) still lives at home and prefers working in the little movie theatre around the corner rather than making big plans for the future. As if her parent’s concerns weren’t enough, her brother Erik is a real high flyer. He’s travelled halfway across the world working as a development aid volunteer, mountain climber and surf instructor - and now he’s even started writing books! Just when it seems as though things couldn’t get worse for Marleen, her life is turned upside-down by a tragic accident that sends her into a downward spiral of misery. Jade (Vicky Knight), a young English woman, is the victim of the acid attack, committed by her former partner. Discharged from hospital, wearing a mask to cover her scars, she looks to rebuild her life. Jade takes refuge in partying with best friend Shami (Rebecca Stone) but finds it impossible to settle back into her old life. Craving invisibility, she wears a burqa. Searching for intimacy, she descends into a self-destructive path. Relationships crumbling around her, Jade must take drastic action to reclaim her life. ‘Director Sacha Polak guides first-time actor Vicky Knight into a mighty performance which should turn her into a star’ – Screen Daily Dir. sacha PolaK, uNiTeD KiNGDom, belGium, NeTherlaNDs, irelaND 2019, 104 miN Time: 8 Pm Price: €9/5 www.thesourceartscentre.ie Carrying nothing but a backpack with a toothbrush and some clothes, Marleen sets off on a journey into the unknown.
