VISUAL ARTS
and Keith Blake
Until Saturday Time: 10am to 5pm
(later on performance evenings)
21 January
Keith Blake from Tipperary, is a recent graduate of The Limerick School of Art
and Design with a BA in Fine Art (Painting).
Blake uses the mediums of photography and painting and is interested in
what Caroline Wake Bynum calls the ‘somatic quality’ of female mystics and
how the body of the female mystic is interpreted. Bynum tells us that the
miracles imposed upon female mystics differed than those of their male
contemporaries in that these miracles manifested themselves bodily as
opposed to psychologically.
Olivia Furey is a visual artist based in Limerick. Her interest in music and
contemporary culture inspires her art. As a feminist she is concerned with
the lack of visibility of women in rock music and the different experiences of
oppression every woman faces. Olivia works with paintings, zines and
performance to translate these issues through her work.
Gallery talk and opening: 7.30, Friday 13th of January. All welcome.

Dir. Peter Foott, Ireland, 2016, 100 mins
A huge box-office success in Ireland in 2016, The Young Offenders follows
the cross-county escapades of two teenage scoundrels (Conor & Jock) as
they hatch a plan to escape their troubled family lives by finding a bale of
cocaine that may or may not have washed up on the West Cork coast and
selling it for some quick cash.
A wonderfully directed, finely tuned caper comedy – Entertainment.ie
