FILM
Time: 8pm
Price: €9/5
Dir. Ken Loach, UK, 2016, 100 mins
Blessed with exceptional lead performances from Dave Johns and Hayley
Squires, Loach crafts a gut-wrenching tragicomic drama about two people 59-year-old Geordie joiner Daniel Blake who has suffered a heart attack
and mother-of-two Katie – attempting to negotiate the UK’s labryntine
welfare system. Fashioned on real-life testaments, the film is a shocking
indictment of a system that purports to care for the most vulnerable.

MUSIC
Time: 8pm
Price: €15/12
Volinist Catherine Leonard and Hugh Tinney embark on an
entirely new programme for this 2017 tour, their first in
four years. Beginning with Bach’s ‘Sonata in C Minor’, they
delve into the baroque world, coming up with their own
unique interpretations. On the other end of the spectrum,
there is Messiaen's 'Theme and Variations', a work which
requires steely control and vigilant adherence to the score
and tempo markings. With other works - Brahms,
Schubert and Deane - this is set to be a powerful return to
the stage after a break.
