whether the brass sounds come from background music or are specially used to shape Hagrid . The first example is at 00:14:07 - 00:14:46 . In the period when Hagrid tried to break into Vernon ’ s house , a brass ensemble simulates the image of giant Hagrid in the form of a combination of high and low musical scales . Lowfrequency tones create a sense of strength both in Mr Vernon and Hagrid ’ s performances but compared with the sounds from the bassoon in the former , the metallic tone of brass music for the latter gives a more sonorous , exciting and broader feeling and resonates with Hagrid ’ s simple and honest personality , which is quite different to Vernon ’ s cunning image . Music provides Hagrid with a profile from another dimension ; this piece of music shows his mountainous and daunting appearance , while the jumping notes not only reflect the action of knocking violently on the door but also imply his unconstrained character . Moreover , this intense music also presents a sense of conflict ; the mighty music breaks through the silent night as if it is a sign that Harry ’ s new journey will help him break the shackles . A similar effect appears in the scene from 00:39:52 to 00:40:21 ; while Hagrid is speaking , the background sound is mixed with two pieces of relatively stable brass music . During this
