mum and dad learned it all ? Harry : Learned what ? Hagrid : You ’ re a wizard Harry .
This conversation frames the first time that Harry has found the truth about his parents . Previously , he did not know that his parents were wizards , which the audience realise when Hagrid asks him if he hadn ’ t wondered how his parents had learned their skills . Harry did not understand what Hagrid meant , revealing his confusion as he says , “ Learned what ?”. The explanation of Harry ’ s past would be a long and complicated story , which is not suitable for explanation within this context , thus Hagrid applies a more effective and concise answer to convey the most important information , although it has no relation to Harry ’ s question and violates the maxim of relation . Shortly after that section , a direct break of the maxim of quantity happens when Hagrid takes Harry to the Leaky Cauldron :

In the second main part of Hagrid ’ s performance , all violations are related to the philosopher ’ s stone . After Harry has got to know his friends Ron and Hermione at school , they find Hagrid together and tell him their guesses . A large number of violations occur :
01:27:48 - 01:28:43 HAGRID : Well , of course , he ’ s got a name ! He ’ s mine ! I brought him off an Irish feller I met down at the pub last year . Then I lent him to Dumbledore to guard the- HARRY : Yes ? HAGRID : I shouldn ’ t have said that . No more questions ! Don ’ t ask any more question !
