McGonagall was sceptical of the decision and asks if Dumbledore believes that Hagrid is wise enough to deal with it . As can be seen from the underlined sentence , for this question , Dumbledore ’ s answer has applied a contempt for the maxim of quality . A normal response to a direct question like this would be to respond yes or no , but he replies : “ I would trust Hagrid with my life .” Dumbledore uses an exaggerated expression , which indicates contempt for quality standards . Moreover , Dumbledore ’ s answer is an indirect compliment to Hagrid , indicating that there is no doubt that Hagrid is a trustworthy person . Thus , the image of Hagrid ’ s character as careless but trustworthy is reflected in the responses of others before his own appearance in the film . of the film ( and the series ) and is played here in a complete and recognisable way . When Hagrid is bringing Harry to school , the light , shadow and vocal music have special meaning , indicating that Harry ’ s arrival will light up the dark world like this lamp , while the prominent music attracts people ’ s attention as soon as he enters the screen ; together , these elements create a demarcation effect as the two professors and the audience simultaneously regardthe sky , looking forward to Harry ’ s arrival with curiosity .
