Grace Cattell (flautist, MMus) This was a great opportunity to perform for a large audience in a professional setting. Rehearsals gave me a chance to work with the Solem Quartet more closely, refining my technique and improving the ‘performance’ of the piece. This experience, definitely reminded me how much I want to perform for a living. Tom Moss (composer, PhD) “As a composer, it is fantastic to have such great performers - professional and excellent student performers - as one can present and experiment with new ideas quickly and efficiently.” Megan Rowlands (flautist, MMus) “This was an enlightening experience; I feel as though my perception of performance has been developed further into the professional field. Working with the Solem Quartet demonstrated to me how integral experience is to becoming a professional, well-respected performer.” Stewart Hankinson (baritone, MMus) “The course has reinvigorated a passion for performing that I had almost lost. The stimulation of ideas and the time to focus on one’s own skills and development, together with fresh ideas and approaches, has made me determined to continue to develop. It’s never too late! As a singer, it is rare to have the opportunity to sing with an outstanding ensemble such as the Solem Quartet.” 42
