Our Story
The plastics research community at the University of Portsmouth is internationally significant . In the last 5 years , 84 plastics-related papers and / or reports have been published in journals including Nature Sustainability , Nature Reviews , and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences , with reports prepared for the World Bank , G20 , and UN Environment Programme , including to support the process to develop a global treaty to end plastic pollution .

Revolution Plastics is launched .

The University of Portsmouth signs a partnership agreement with a leading university in Bangladesh to help tackle the problem of urban plastic pollution in the global South . The agreement with Shahjalal University of Science and Technology ( SUST ) in Sylhet , Bangladesh is part of the Sustainable Transitions to End Plastic Pollution ( STEPP ) project .
The world is facing a tipping point in the relationship between people and nature that threatens planetary health and human wellbeing . Change is inevitable .
The role of science and education is to ensure necessary economic and environmental transitions are positive .
