I DECLARE WAR BY LEVI LUSKO
You will make fewer wrong decisions when you are thinking the right thoughts. You can’ t live right if you don’ t think right.
It’ s been said that you shouldn’ t ask a question if you don’ t want to know the answer. The same is true of looking for things that you don’ t want to find. For example, when going through security at the airport, don’ t look too carefully at the bin you put your belongings into.
On a recent trip, I glanced down into the tray I where I was about to place my belt, phone, and wallet, and realized there was a long, black hair in the bottom.
I am a full- grown adult, and such things shouldn’ t bother me. But it bothered me.
What is it about a strand of hair that is so disgusting? You ever notice how ten seconds after a hair leaves your body, you completely turn your back on it? It’ s been with you it’ s entire life, but the moment you notice that it is now on a bar of soap or the shower wall instead of growing out of you, you treat it with contempt.
I have absolutely no room in my life for someone else’ s hair. I took my contents out of the bin as fast as I could and grabbed a new one, but it, too, had a hair in it.
A hundred flights and a hundred hairs later, it dawned on me: There are hairs in every bin. Every last one. Check next time you fly. They are all hairy. Trust me. Some hairs are blonde, some are black; all of them haunt my dreams.
