Nerja’s indoor pool
remains closed
A 69-year-old woman died in the
centre of Málaga last month, hit by a
car whose driver was found to be over
the drink-drive limit. Breath tests on
the 56-year-old man showed he was
three times over the limit of 25
milligrams of alcohol per litre of air.
He was arrested in calle Eugenio Gross
where his car struck the victim as she
was crossing the road.
Nerja Town Hall has given the go-head
for repairs to be carried out at the
town’s indoor swimming pool. The
facility has been closed since early
April after “deficiencies in the
structure” were identified.
The Council has allocated €125,000 to
the project which is to be carried out
“as soon as possible” but no date has
been set for the reopening of the pool.
Opposition councillors have been
critical of the time it has taken the
socialist-led tripartite coalition in
power in Nerja to begin repairs.
