Happy Tales
Polly was found under a car by a retired couple and their son in the middle of the summer and they could not , in all good conscience , leave her to fend for herself by the roadside in the July heat . They asked around the area but Polly nobody recognised the little waif and when they took her to the vet they discovered she was about 10 months old but she did not have a microchip .
In Spain it is required by law to microchip all dogs that are more than three months as well as to inoculate them against rabies so when the couple decided to keep Polly they registered her in their name . However , even though Polly is very cute and adorable they soon had to deal with the reality of caring for an energetic pup which requires lots of exercise and training . The couple persevered for about a month but found it difficult to care for Polly because of her strong personality and exercise requirements .
In the end the couple contacted CAS with the help of a friend and it was decided she needed to be placed in private kennels for assessment . In a neutral environment it became apparent that Polly was more feisty than aggressive and she needed to be placed with a younger family who would train her with a firm hand . As is so often the case with young cute dogs a suitable match was found within a week of Polly going into kennels and she is now living a wonderful yet structured life .

Pedro
Although this may , at first , appear to be old news , the fact that people are prepared to take on a rescue animal and give it a home is heartwarming . Quite often we are updated ( sometimes years later ) of the progress our rescued animals are making . It is a very easy task to foster or adopt one of our animals and the moment you see them and they look at you with those “ take me home eyes ”, you ’ ll Pedro be hooked . So please get in contact with us . Our contact details are on the opposite page . Pedro is a lovely success story from 2016 when he was rescued as a young kitten from the campo in Frigiliana by holidaymakers from Ireland . They initially kept him in their villa for a couple of months and wanted to adopt Pedro but the cost of transporting him to the Emerald Isle proved to be too costly so they contacted the Costa Animal Society ( CAS ) for help .
CAS found a place for the kitten at a local cattery where he was able to grow up in a safe environment and because of his friendly and inquisitive nature Pedro was gradually allowed to roam free . He quickly made himself at home on the cattery grounds and was accepted by the group of other cats who also lived there . Several months later Pedro was spotted by two clients of the cattery who were interested in adopting another cat and they were told his story so they decided to do a trial adoption . The couple soon fell in love with this cheeky chap and changed his name to something more their liking and he has lived the past seven years in a loving home .
