Campaign Updates from the CCP Project
How accessible are We are looking at how easy it is for people
leisure services in with learning disabilities to use the leisure
Hounslow?
services in Hounslow. We have run some
consultation groups to find out what people
think. They say they want gentle sport
classes with easy instructions and to go with
other people so they feel more confident.
Vaishali & Susan from CCP did some mystery
shopper phone calls to Leisure Centres to ask
what sports sessions they had for people
with disabilities. They found that it was not
always easy to speak to the right person and
that none of the centres have information in
easy read. Some centres do have sessions for
disabled people but staff did not always
know about them.
CCP have met with the manager at Brentford
Leisure Centre and will work with him to see
if we can help make things better. Tell us
your stories of using the leisure centres - ring
Sarah or Jaspaul (number on back cover).

After our work looking at banks in Hounslow,
CCP members Susan, Margaret, Punam &
Ramandeep were given a guided tour
around Barclays Bank in Hounslow.
They were shown an account manager
machine that does everything for you. They
also have disabled counters so you don’t
have to wait in the main queue. The staff
were very friendly and helpful. Afterwards
some members said they will be opening an
2
account with the bank.
