Through the past years, Middle East has bee a complete mess with civil wars, popular protests, cross-border fighting and military insurgencies. These problems, as many others has been mainly caused by conflicting ideologies including religion.
-Mr. Locke, what concerns you the most about these problems based on religion?
It is not the religious part that concerns me the most, but the fact that people do not understand that we have equal rights and that we should respect each other. There is something I call State of Nature, in this state man is free and equal and this should remain when he enters society.
-One of the biggest questions is how to stop these conflicts; do you think that creating and adopting an universal religion would be a solution?
In my opinion, coercing religious uniformity would only lead to more social disorders than allowing diversity. Religion is a personal choice and for instance is one of human’s freedoms.
-As you might know, Mr. Locke, one of ISIS’s purposes is establishing a global Caliphate. In your opinion, what makes a Caliphate unviable? Why?
First of all a Caliphate is unviable because it combines religion and politics. I strongly believe in secularisation of state, which means church and state should not have any sort of relation. Second of all, imposing a global Caliphate would not be possible because the Islamic State uses violence, and no one can be compelled into belief through this mean.
