Teenagers on Facebook
If you've ever seen a teenager with their face buried in their smartphone and their thumbs typing away as if the rest of the world didn't exist, here's a statistic that won't seem too surprising: 94 percent of teens use Facebook. It seems when teenagers aren't texting away, they're socializing largely on social networks like Facebook and Twitter. According to a new report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project (along with Harvard’s Berkman Center), 95 percent of teens ages 12-17 use the Internet, and 81 percent of them use social networks. As of 2012, about 94 percent of teens who use social networks have a Facebook profile, and their average number of Facebook friends is about 425.
